Material Explorations
I became very interested in alternative and more sustainable materials while working on my Parkhill Grant in the Netherlands. I have slowly been integrating material exploration with my classes and with students where there is a curiosity. I have set up the Nest in the art building where students in any class can come, explore, and create materials that can be used across curricula. We have explored bioplastics, mycelium, crystals, and making art materials from nature. The material explorations have been used in Wearable Art, Sculpture, independent studies and capstone projects.
